ABOUT HRP
The Ghana-Netherlands Health Research Programme
(HRP) for Development started its activities in Ghana in August
2001 for a period of five years.
HRP is a partnership between Ghanaian and Dutch
academic, research, government and non-government agencies, which
are committed to “undertake and promote collaborative and interdisciplinary
research that will

Specific Objectives
The specific objectives are to identify gaps and
provide knowledge to improve:
1. Communication and community participation in health
2. Quality of health care delivery in the health facilities
3. Financial management through efficiency in resource utilization
4. Decentralization of the health sector to facilitate decision
making at the local level
5. To build capacity for research and enhance north-south collaboration
6. To improve access to research findings and facilitate its utilization

Types of Research
Two types of Research will be funded:
Commissioned Research
This will be done through expert/working groups or through established
field research stations. For this year the Programme will fund 2
commissioned projects on Quality of Care and Decentralization.
Funding limit for Commissioned Research is 45, 000 Euro.
Investigator-Led Research
Individuals or research teams in the research community at large
may submit proposals that fall within the Ghanaian-Dutch Collaboration
research priorities. The funding limit for Investigator-led Research
Projects is 20,000 Euro.
