Ghana-Netherlands Health Research for Development Programme

Support & Liaison Office

For the proper functioning of the programme in the Netherlands, a Netherlands-based Support and Liaison Office (S&LO) has been established to facilitate co-operation between Ghana and the Netherlands research community. This office works closely with the executive secretariat in Ghana, actively exchanging information and co-ordinating practical matters. The office involves Dutch research groups in the joint programme and promotes co-operation and co-ordination on the Dutch side. It also keeps in close contact with other relevant research programmes administered in the Netherlands, exchanging relevant project information and holding regular meetings or exchange forums for sharing knowledge and information. The co-ordinator of the S&LO is accountable to the JPC for the overall work of the Office for the programme and to the director of the organization hosting the Office for administrative and financial matters. Specific tasks and functions are:

  • To inform the Ghana-based executive secretariat on knowledge and expertise available in the Netherlands that could be relevant for needs expressed at the Ghanaian side.
  • To involve Dutch research expertise in the programme and to promote co-operation and co-ordination at the Dutch side.
  • To liaise, communicate and co-ordinate with the Ghana-based executive secretariat.
  • To handle administrative and financial matters at the Dutch side.
  • To act as a focal point for the programme in the Netherlands and to inform the Dutch research community on developments in the programme.
  • To solicit CVs for specific TORs and pass on the CVs to the secretariat in Ghana for selection.
  • To organise JPC meetings in the Netherlands.
